From Marcia to Eric:

Today, I’m home working on the computer upstairs.  Earlier (about three hours) I gave Sammie and Bubbie a worm pill (on an empty stomach).  I’m working hard and Sammie comes up the stairs and starts barking at me.  I’m involved in some intense e-mails so I try to ignore her.  Finally I speak sharply to her and tell her to be quiet.  She is all agitated and keeps running to the stairs and back to me (not barking).  Then she starts jumping on me and biting me with small nips.

I think, ok, she probably has to go out and poop.  I go down the stairs behind her – she’s running fast.  I get to the front door and there’s Bubbie, standing there and just as I approach she throws up!

Just as I was writing this – Sammie came up and got me AGAIN!!!  She was barking frantically.  I decided to stop this email and followed Sammie.  She ran down the stairs and out into the backyard.  I followed and saw her right at the ladder to the pool.  There was Bubbie – caught up in the robot cord unable to get out of the pool.  The last time I heard her bark was about 10 minutes before and I think she could have been in the pool for 10 minutes trying to swim out but entangled in the cord!  Sammie actually CAME AND GOT ME!!

I disentangled Bubbie and she managed to climb out of the pool.  She came right in after me and laid down (she was breathing pretty hard).  She’s right here now – all calm and perfectly fine.  I think Sammie literally saved Bubbie’s life.

We’re now going to remove the robot unless we’re out in the yard using it. [solid idea]
