Bubkiss is an unusual name for a dog. Most people have no idea where we came up with this name for our little hound. Well, it’s a story….

My father-in-law had this theory about names. His theory was that a person’s personality was always the opposite of their name. For instance a lady named JOY was sure to bring grief, one named CANDY was going to be sour and with GOLDIE you were destined for the poor house. So, with the wisdom of my 95 year old father-in-law in mind, we named our little puppy Bubkiss. Bubkiss (BUBKES) is a Yiddish word that means “OF LITTLE VALUE”.

Within days of bringing Bubkiss home, we knew we had chosen the correct name. Bubkiss or “Bubbie” has brought such joy to our lives and is such a precious little being that she has proved, once again, that my father-in-law was correct, she’s a diamond!
